As many of you must be aware, sadly, Shipmate Dennis Smith passed away..
Our thoughts will always be with Betty, his wife. Betty herself has bravely managed to continue to attend the reunions,
until the last one, which I believe was because she was unwell, but may one day, perhaps resume a role within the
Association. I extend my sympathy at the loss of a fine man and would like to count Dennis as having been one of
my friends. He will be greatly missed at every future reunion. I don't know how we will all manage without him...
GOD BLESS HIM !

Obituary - Phillip Derrick Evans & George Hinkins
With regret i wish to inform you of the passing of my father, on 17/1/2003, whilst on
holidays with me in Australia. His body was returned to Wales where the funeral took place three weeks later. My
father always looked back fondly on his time aboard the Formidable. The memories of his service and the time with
his shipmates in Gibralter, Australia and Celyon were amongst his fondest. The death of his petty officer, George
Hinkins, was a memory and a ghost that never left his side. The meeting with his widow 40 years later a very moving
experience. - my father is sadly missed by his wife, three sons and 7 grandchildren.
