Board and management

Who sits on the board, with which role, and who is managing director.

For a limited company: who carries the responsibility. In a small company that is often the owners themselves. Only in Norway

The board

Each board member is a row with a Role: Chair of the board, Board member, Deputy chair, Alternate member or Observer. The first person you add becomes chair. Press Add a board member, and fill in their details as for an owner (see Owners and shares). Everyone except observers signs the business information, so they need an email address for signing.

To register digitally, everyone on the board must live in Norway, the EU/EEA or the UK, and only people — not companies — can sit on a board. One board member is enough, and it can be you.

Managing director

  • Me — you run the company day to day. Common for founders.
  • Someone else — a board member or someone you hire. Press Add a managing director and fill in their details.
  • No managing director — lawful for a small company; the board then carries the responsibility.
