Starting a registration

Choose limited company or sole proprietorship — and what happens if the company cannot be registered digitally.

The first time you open Registration, you choose the company form. It is the one choice that cannot easily be changed later, because the owners, the board and the share capital depend on it. Only in Norway

Choose the company form

  • Limited company (AS) — limited liability, one owner or several. Needs share capital and a board.
  • Sole proprietorship (ENK) — one owner with personal liability. No share capital and no board; the quickest way to start.

The registration fee is invoiced by the Brønnøysund Register Centre.

When it cannot be done digitally

Some foundings cannot be registered digitally — for example when part of the share capital is paid in with assets rather than money. Brigg then shows the register's own reason and a button to the register's coordinated notification form in Altinn. Nothing is wrong with the company, and what you have filled in stays where it is.
