The first screen is about the company itself. Every answer is saved as soon as you leave the field. Only in Norway
Name
The company's name. For a limited company it must end in «AS»; for a sole proprietorship it must contain the owner's surname. The name is checked against the register while you type: Free in the register., or that it is already registered. If the register does not answer, the name is checked again before you submit.
Business address
Where the company is based — a street address in Norway, not a PO box. The address is looked up in the cadastre (Matrikkelen), and the register's own spelling is what is filed. If no address matches, check the spelling; if several match, add a house number.
What will you do?
Search for the description that fits best and press it. It decides the company's industry code. If none fits, write it in the box Describe it in your own words and press Use this — the register then sets the industry code by hand, which usually takes several weeks. The chosen description is shown above the search box, marked Fixed description or Own words.
When do you start?
- As soon as the company is founded (the usual choice) — the start date is the day the founding document is signed.
- A specific date — if you are waiting for something, such as premises or the turn of the year. Pick the Date.
Sole proprietor
For a sole proprietorship, this screen also has the Sole proprietor: the person who owns and runs the business. Press Add the sole proprietor and fill in their details as described in Owners and shares.
