The Documents tab on a company, a contact or a deal lists every document that belongs to the customer, in one list.
What is listed
- Attached documents — the ones someone put on this customer, and documents made for it, such as a quote.
- Documents that reached the customer, marked with how:
- Sent — attached to an email sent to one of their people.
- For signature — out for signing with one of them.
- Signed — signed by one of them; the row opens the signed copy.
A document is listed once, however many times it was sent or signed, and it stays in its own folder in Documents — nothing is moved or copied. A deal has no addresses of its own, so on a deal you see the attached documents only.
Adding a document
Add document lets you make a new one, pick one you already have, or upload a file. On a company, New quote makes a quote for the customer from one of your templates, filled in from the customer's own details. See also The deal page, where a quote is made from the deal's line items.
Removing
Open ⋯ on an attached document and choose Remove link. The document is not deleted — it is just no longer attached to the customer. Documents that reached the customer through an email or a signing cannot be removed from the list.
Who sees what
You see the documents you are allowed to open: shared documents, and your own private ones. A colleague's private document, or a signing a colleague has out, is not shown to you.
